About This Opportunity

The European Space Agency (ESA) is recruiting a Climate Applications Scientist at their site in Harwell, United Kingdom. ESA's Climate Office develops satellite-based climate data records and applications that support climate science, policy, and adaptation worldwide.

The Climate Applications Scientist will develop and validate climate monitoring applications using Earth observation satellite data, contribute to ESA's Climate Change Initiative (CCI) and Copernicus Climate Change Service, design algorithms for processing satellite data into Essential Climate Variables (ECVs), collaborate with climate research institutions and meteorological agencies, present findings at international scientific conferences, publish research in peer-reviewed journals, and support the development of climate services for decision-makers.

Requirements: PhD or equivalent in climate science, atmospheric physics, remote sensing, or related discipline. Strong programming skills (Python, R, or similar). Experience with satellite data processing and climate data analysis. Publication record in relevant scientific literature. Ability to work in an international, multidisciplinary environment.
