The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the world's largest dedicated climate fund, established under the UNFCCC to support developing countries in their efforts to respond to climate change. Based in Songdo, Incheon, Republic of Korea, GCF provides ongoing funding for climate mitigation and adaptation projects globally.

GCF channels climate finance through accredited entities — international, regional, and national organizations that design and implement climate projects. Funding covers eight strategic result areas: energy generation and access, transport, buildings/cities/industries, forests and land use, health/food/water security, livelihoods of people and communities, ecosystems and ecosystem services, and infrastructure and built environment.

Project funding ranges from micro-grants under $10 million to large-scale transformational investments over $250 million. GCF offers grants, concessional loans, equity investments, and guarantees. 50% of funding is allocated to adaptation and 50% to mitigation, with a floor of 50% for developing country priorities.

To access GCF funding, organizations must become accredited entities or partner with existing accredited entities. The accreditation process evaluates institutional capabilities in fiduciary standards, environmental and social safeguards, and gender policy.
