Echoing Green Fellowship ($100,000 Stipend)
About This Opportunity
Echoing Green's fellowship identifies emerging leaders working on solutions to global challenges and provides comprehensive support to help them become impactful change-makers. For over 35 years, the organization has focused on leaders who design solutions with and for their communities across issue areas including education, climate justice, human rights, and health.
The organization employs a distinctive approach: funding leaders and communities less likely to connect with traditional investment, cultivating a diverse network across ethnic, gender, religious, and economic backgrounds, and assessing indicators of lifelong leadership rather than traditional benchmarks such as previous financial success or business school degrees.
The support model has three pillars:
1. Capacity Building — Comprehensive leadership development programming plus mental and emotional wellness support with entrepreneurship-focused workshops.
2. Capital Access — $100,000 seed funding stipend distributed over 18 months, plus connection to expert resources and pro-bono professional support.
3. Community — Virtual and in-person gatherings connecting Fellows across cohorts and regions, with access to experienced business leaders supporting social change.
For-profit organizations receive funding as recoverable grants. Fellows become lifelong members of Echoing Green's community. Notable alumni include Van Jones (1994 Fellow), who founded the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights.
